Athirathram 2011 Vedic Yajna

Thanks to all for all the mails I received for the previous post on Athirathram 2011 Panjal. Its a great pleasure for all of us, who are eagerly waiting to witness the Vedic yajna, or sacrifice and one of the oldest surviving ritual - Athirathram. Athirathram recreates the Vedic rituals and yajnas performed during the Vedic age. Athirathram is conducted for 12 days by selected Namboothiri families of Kerala.

It is also expected that Frits Staal, professor pf philosophy and South Asian Languages at the University of California, Berkeley is coming to attend the rituals. The preperations have been going on by the main priests (Namboothiris).

Practicing of taittiriyam of Yajurveda by Poothillathu Ramanujan Somayajippadu, who is the ‘Yajamanan’ for the Athirathram and Kapra Sankaranarayanan Akkithiripad, ‘Yajamanan’ of the previous Athirathram. Practicing of Kaushithakam, Rig Veda by Cherumukku Vallabhan Somayajippadu and Naras Parameshwaran Namboothiri!

This year Athirathram is organised in Panjal, Thrissur, Kerala from April 4 to April 15, 2011.

Dear Dilip

Very glad to know about your participation in the Athirathram yajna in Panjal
http://www.spiritualresearchfoundation.org/ who are doing extensive research in Spiritual Sciences and sharing the benefits obtained from this research freely with all will be participating in this yagna too and conducting subtle experiments. The objective of SSRF is to work closely with the spiritually inclined worldwide and freely share the benefits of this research on Universal Spiritual values in areas related to human psychophysical integration and psycho spiritual awareness for the benefit of Mankind. Spiritual Science Research Foundation (SSRF) is a volunteer non-profit organization. Over the past 20 years it has under-taken extensive and exhaustive research in the spiritual realm. It has recently begun to publish its spiritual research on its website www.spiritualresearchfoundation.org. The purpose is to research the roots of the classic yoga taught by the ancient Rishis (seers) of India and present this eternal tradition free from superstition and deviations to the modern world in a way which accords with scientific methods and reason. In doing so, SSRF intends to demystify the spiritual realm and provide research that will help humanity to effectively alleviate difficulties in life. The mission is to help humanity engage with the realities of religious diversity through research, outreach, and the active dissemination of Spiritual resources. Hope we can keep close communication with each other and others in the same field.
Gratitude

Just another way to enforce the dictatorial powers enjoyed by the erstwhile ruling class. If it is performed for the whole of mankind why the exclusivity on the performer? Over the centuries they have successfully converted all vedic performances into mere religious exercises which has nothing to do with the spiritual plane of existence.
The addition of a pinch of spirituality mixed with tons of superstition is enough to lure the gullible Malayalee to any religious ritual.
Age old political attempt to gain supremacy over the masses has now attained a religious colour!

No offence intended
